crossing it off the list

So how did I do with my LIST yesterday? Well, out of like 15 specific things to do, I crossed out about 4... yep.... The thing is... it took me WAY longer to do some of those things on there than I expected them too. PLUS with an 8 week old, I had to stop every couple of hours to nurse him. He's a chunky little thing who likes to eat! So I'm just proud of myself for at least getting some of the stuff completely finished. :) yay for me :)

Will I be finishing my list today? Mmmmm, not likely. My bff's beautiful daughter is having her 5th bday party today. So we have to go to town and get her a cutie gift, then go to her party at the jump around! YAY for air castles and slides and all things alike! It should wear the boys out enough for a nap today! I hope so--more cleaning to do! Anyhow, I remember when Taylan turned 5. I was just in shock that I was so 'grown up'. I had a 5yr old and a 3 1/2 yr old. whoa. (Also, my bff's daughter and my son share the same b-day, just 1yr apart - cool huh?) Now, my big boy will be SIX in just a few days! Whew, time is flying and I am just doing my best to keep up. Sometimes I wish I could freeze time and keep them how they are now for just a little longer so when they are grown and gone, I will be able to better remember their cute little faces, phrases, giggles, and everything else I love about them at this age. *sigh* I love them with my whole heart. And now it's only a matter of time before the bebe is running and jumping with the big boys.

Also... something that has been on my mind a lot lately is the Sabbath. The day of rest. I've been thinking about it for about 2 weeks now. As a family we love to watch movies, watch tv, play video games, and things like that. Between Toby and me, one of us usually has a laptop open. There's always some kind of electronic something going on in our house. So, I've been wanting to make one day of the week an electronic free zone. We've done this once before... several, several years ago. So I've been pondering it... well, yesterday I was reading a magazine while nursing and came across an article about this very thing. Taking a day to rest, and forget about your work week. A day to not cook, and let the laundry slide, and leave the house chores for one of the other 6 days of the week. I love this idea. I LOVE it! So I asked Toby what he thought about it. His response (hee hee) "What are we gonna do?" I chuckled on the inside but what he meant was does going out to the movies count as family time, can we watch a movie here as a fam? I told him we could sometimes, but we could also play cards, play board games with the boys, go for a walk at the park, go on a picnic at Nelson Park and feed the ducks. There's tons to do. So he agreed! *yay* We're making our day Sundays and starting tomorrow. That's what I wanted for a mother's day gift : tons of time with the fam without so many distractions and without housework. Do you give yourself a day of rest and family with out the go go go and busy busy busy part of life? I can't wait!! I'm super pumped about it!!

Speaking of family time... Toby found this crazy statistic about dads... Did you know, that on average a dad will spend about 38 seconds of QUALITY time with his kids a day?? crazy huh? We don't want that to be either of us. So we're taking action now and it's gonna be AWESOME!

Also, an update on my finding humor in the crazy... doing better! Let's just say it made yesterday evening a lot funnier :) Kanyon can be something else (little turkey).

Moms... Have a fantastic Mother's day!!!! I hope you're blessed!
