time SAVERS

So there a few things I do around here that saves me a little time each week...even if it's just a few seconds.

One of my favorite time savers is too cook all my dinner meats for the week at the same time. I love only having to reheat them, it cuts out a lot of cook time. Usually I purchase 1 package of chicken, and 1 large package of ground beef (meat is expensive). So when I start cooking my first dinner after grocery shopping, I cook all my chicken and beef at one time. Then three nights worth of dinner is cooked much faster because I already have part of it cooked, it just requires reheating which cuts out a chunk of time.

Another itty bitty thing I do is to put extra trash bags in the bottom of my bathroom trash cans. I put about 6 or 7 folded up bags there and it keeps me from having to hunt down where the bags are since we have 2 bathrooms. It's small, but it helps.

I also try to have the boys pick up their toy room each night while I'm cooking dinner. That way we don't lose time we could otherwise be spending together. I'm cooking while they're cleaning. Perfect plan for us :) Not to mention, it keeps them distracted so I don't get frustrated when they're under my feet and I'm stepping on them and they're upset because I stepped on them :)

We also keep a plastic grocery store bag in our car because as a family of 5 we ALWAYS have something to throw away and instead of spending time hunting it down later after someone has dropped it in the floor, we drop it in the bag right away. This makes cleaning up our van so much faster.

And while I don't do this, I know a ton of people who like to clean their bathrooms while the kiddos are in the bath. You're in there, you might as well. I should do that, but I don't. I like to clean both bathrooms at the same time. (And the boys take showers now, so I like to wander around the house doing other things).

Anyhow, those are just a few small and maybe silly ideas, but it's what I do :) and it works for me. Find out what works for you when it comes to saving time and stick to it!

Have a great Wednesday!!

  3. I like all of your ideas (although I think I am too lazy to cook everything at once - I am always waiting until the last minute). But I really like having the kids tidy up while I'm making dinner!!!! I mean that in genius!!!
