my sweets

Every now and then, you catch a glimpse of your kids interacting together in a way you've not seen before. On Saturday, I saw this. A moment they had no idea I was watching. It was touching and sweet and got me a little choked up. It was nothing big, just a moment where my older two sweets were being kind and super loving to one another.

I was washing dishes [by hand] with the radio playing softly behind me. The TV was off and the house was relatively quiet. Jonyn was either playing sweetly somewhere or napping, I don't remember.

My oldest two were laying across our ottoman (it's kinda big) together on their bellies. They had been looking through their newest Highlights magazines together. Taylan was reading things for Kanyon and they were discussing what they were seeing.

At one point, I look up... my Kanyon is gently brushing Taylan's hair while Taylan reads the magazine. It was very touching. And a moment that made me smile and get all teary eyed. The stage in life my two boys are at is mostly centered around arguing or tattling. So to see THIS moment happen before my very eyes was THE sweetest thing. They were kind and caring and gentle in that moment. I soaked it up. I loved it. I was thanking God for my boys in that moment. For letting me have that glimpse of love shared between them.

Sadly, my camera was either in my bedroom, or the computer room at the other end of the house, so I couldn't get a photo of it. But at least telling the story will help me remember [that moment] when they are all grown  up.

  1. I remember when Cydney and Taylor were little I went in to wake them up and they were holding hands in their sleep. I thought how sweet that was, now I have that memory whenever they are disagreeing loudly across the house. -- Shay
