I think we have all we need to get this homeschooling thing started. Which is good since we're starting on Monday. Also, it'll be school year 'round for us. I've got it all scheduled out, but also realize it can change and I'm good with that.
I decided right away that when we start, it is going to be pretty. Not [too] cluttered, but organized and pretty.
This little nook has file folders for each of the boys. Their initials are on top. I painted them a metallic black and stapled ribbon to the back to make them look good. Our calendar is also here, at the boys' eye level.
I also prettified this little cork board. I took our blue living room paint and painted the cork, and hot glued some wide black ribbon around the edges. Then hung it by some chain we already had around the house. It went from ugly to pretty and now I love it.
All of our curriculum is in!
We found some $1 Atlas books at a garage sale, and the Dollar Store was where I found blue and green binders. Love those! The science books were a birthday gift for Taylan this year.
This little scrapbook paper organizer is perfect for all the papers and notebooks we have. It fits the shelf almost perfectly. I also have organizers beside it that I love and I'm sure I'll find a use for them all eventually. Right now, I only have my math blocks in one of them.
Those black baskets were once bright yellow. I got them because the size and shape was perfect and they were $1 at Dollar Tree. So I spray painted them black. It made a huge difference.
The bookshelf sits next to the dining room table. I like the setup we have so far. And I'll be taking plenty of notes this first year on what works and what doesn't. In fact, I think I need to go get me a pink binder, too. I love office supplies! They make me happy :)
I also have a world map that is still rolled up. I'm not sure where it's going just yet. The husband and I have to come up with a way to make it accessible without it being visible all the time.
Also, who needs a dry erase board when you have giant window panes right by the homeschool area?
My setup is not perfect and is nothing spectacular, but I like it and I think it'll work for us.
It's gonna be one heckuva ride this year, but I am going to do my best to enjoy it and not make my kids dumb. Wish me luck.
