For several months now, God has been leading us on a journey to get to where we are now. New job. New house. A new beginning. Toby and I have never owned our own home before. We rented, then lived in base housing, then church provided housing. But with his new job, we are able to become first time home owners! It is so exciting for us. We officially close on Thursday!
And with the purchase of this house came the purchase of appliances. We've never owned our appliances. So originally we tried to purchase them online and have them sent from the store to our house, but it doesn't work that way. So Friday after the movers got all of our stuff moved in, off we went to Lowe's to get kitchen appliances.
To sum it up, we couldn't get them there. So on to plan B. Sears. We got there, the guy told us it takes 3 days to get them in. I almost cried. I put my head In my hands. He stood there for a second then mentioned that sometimes they have some in the back for various reasons.
First he showed us a fridge, stainless, priced marked down to $600. We looked at it for about 10 seconds and said we'd take it. Then he showed us a stove, also stainless that he had in stock, the only one he had right then. Again, a quick glance and $600 price tag was all I needed to say we'd take it too.
Then we asked about a dishwasher. We saw one, also stainless, marked down to $412, but that tag was on the wrong dishwasher. But the Lord is so good that the one we were looking at was a closeout model priced at $375, less than we thought. Why yes, we'll take it too, thank you. This is where I started crying. How is God so gracious? We don't deserve this really huge blessing.
At checkout, the fridge was even less. And to top it all off, every appliance was a Kenmore. Sears was giving a discount if you bought 3 or more Kenmore appliances.
Instead of spending over $2000 like we thought we would, the Lord provided each of our needs in an unexpected way and we walked out with 3 perfect for us appliances for $1400.
He is so good.
