our new old table

Over this past weekend, my Mom and her beau brought us down my Nanny's old kitchen table. She has had this one for years, but hasn't used it in a long time. She's since gotten something smaller to use.

This beauty seats 8-9 depending on whether or not kids are seated at the table.
All four of my boys fit on the bench, which means we have plenty of room to grow when this next baby comes and even when we have company.
And for the record, we will not be having more babies to fill up this table. Just letting you know ahead of time, mkay? Also, the crumbs are invisible, you don't actually see them.

I have always loved this table and dreamed of someday being able to use it with my family. I'm thankful they took the time to haul it 10 hours (along with lots of firewood for our fireplace. There are no trees in West Texas) down to us.
I just think it's gorgeous and sturdy and just perfect. I love how huge it is. One day I have dreams of my kids, their wives, and my grandbabies gathered around it. It's a beautiful image in my mind.

  1. I love the table. My dream table! And what crumbs? ;)

  2. The bench was the first thing I noticed! So happy for you... that it has so much meaning, and that it can seat so many. We have a bench on one side of our table and it's been great!

  3. Oh my, what a gorgeous table! About the having no more babies to fill it....didn't you say that after you had #4?? ;) http://brookechambers.blogspot.com/2011/09/are-you-sure-were-done.html

  4. I am in love with that table. Like Jess, I too noticed the bench first. We're using our piano bench at the table right now, lol.
Love what you wrote at the very end, too ;)

I am so happy you are here. Your words make my heart so happy.
