so grey learned (yet another) new trick. he figured out how to take the little step out of the house onto the patio. and consequently, he can also take the step from the house to the garage. last week, he actually went out the back door twice without me ever realizing. at least until i noticed he wasn't finding me like he usually does. all of it was because b's obsession with going outside had forgetting to close the door behind him.
when it's possible, i definitely like to let them explore the world around them. so while the concrete may be rough, it didn't seem to phase him one bit. he would get mad if i took him back in and tried to keep him there, so while i was out there with the other boys, i, of course, let him crawl around and touch the grass and bang on the fire pit. they only get one childhood. that's what i've been telling myself a lot lately in an effort to say no a little less often. it seems to be working, and for that, i'm grateful. especially after a couple of really hard weeks.
